I've been swinging pretty well this year. Unfortunately, my back is keeping me from practicing very much. But when I can, I do these two drills to warm up and get my swing in sync:
1) To emphasize your arms and body working together - try this
Set up to a shot as normal and then place a towel across your chest and underneath both armpits, and hold it securely.
- Now swing the club back and straight through at about half swings.
This drill will get your arms and body to work together, if they aren't your towel will drop.
Keep doing this half-swings focusing on the connection in the middle of your body and arms, manufacture sure the towel stays in place under your arm pits.
After hitting 30 or-so shots this way, hit some full shots without the towel and you should feel very in sync with your arms and body.
2) Here's another Golf Drill To help Get Your Arms and Body in Sync
(I first learned the one handed drill From David Lee and have seen it many places since along with Annika's Book).
Hit Balls with your right arm only (left arm for lefties)
Take your two handed grip and then remove your top hand placing it on your sternum.
Now swing as you commonly would and you'll get immediate feedback (it's not as hard as you might think - you'll get the hang of it quickly).
Once you get the hang of it pay concentration to your results:
If your body is consuming too fast for your hands the resulting shot will be a weak and soft shot to the right.
If your body is consuming too slow then your hands and arms will shut down the club face too early resulting in the shot going left.
Pay concentration to your results and if most of your shots go one way then you know what you need to do.
One of my weaknesses is a slow body in approach shots and hitting the ball to the left - these two drills help me to sync up and hit more greens.
I can even get some custom in on my lunch break with http://www.realfeelgolfmats.com.
