It's a jungle out there! There are a collection of junior golf tool options on the market, and some of it at prices to make you think twice about cut-down freebies - which we don't suggest - especially if you're already underwriting swim lessons and ski trips.
Here are some of the options:
Taylor Made offers five-club junior sets with graphite shafts in three sizes. Recommend sell is 0 per set. You also can fill out a registration card that allows you to upgrade as you grow for per driver and per iron.
Titleist offers its "T Rex" line in two sizes. For ages 5 to 7, a seven-piece T Rex set includes 3-, 6-, 8-irons, pitching wedge, putter and golf bag. All clubs are steel-shafted. Price is 5 retail. A similar package, retailing at about 0, is ready for the 8 to 10 age group. This set also includes a driver.
Wilson has a black-and-red "Michael Jordan Junior" set for kids in the 54-60-inch range. Steel-shafted line-up has driver, 5-, 7-, 9-iron and wedge, plus putter. Wilson also offers an "Ultra Junior" line, with the same set configurations.
Karsten builds junior sets by starting with its standard 37 3/4" 5-iron for adults and shortening it by two, four and six inches to generate three isolate "Zing2 Youth" outfits. ready right- or left-handed, the sets have two graphite-shafted metal woods, four Zing2 irons, also graphite-shafted, and a Ping putter. The Recommend sell is 0.
Spalding has an "Alliance" set of steel-shafted clubs with metal heads, retailing for 0, and a "Teen" set that retails for 5. The Alliance package, designed for pre-teen players, features one wood, four irons and a golf bag. The Teen box contains two woods, five irons and a bag.
A Jolla Club makes junior tool only. For kids aged five to 13, it offers seven-piece sets in three isolate lengths. For 12 to 16-year-olds, it has a perfect set of eight irons plus 1, 3, and 5 woods. Driver is made with a composite (graphite) shaft and the irons are shafted with flexible steel. The Recommend sell is 0-300.
Golfsmith offers an array of junior golf tool [http://www.hotgolflinks.com] packages under the "Firestar" and "Harvey Penick Future" nameplates. The entry-level "Firestar" set costs about sell and includes a 3-wood, "middle" iron, and a putter. Two other sets in the line are priced at 0 and 0 each and they feature five clubs (including a putter) and six clubs, respectively. The top end of the Penick future line is a graphite-shafted box of seven clubs (including a putter), with bag, for 9. A steel-shafted, five-club version of this set is ready for 9.
Nancylopezgolf has a Roswell set for girls, has a 5-wood, three irons and a putter.
U.S. Kids Golf makes "Ultralight Kids Klubs" for three- to 12-year-olds.
